"On your left just after you have crossed the River Stiffkey, is the beautiful Tudor house called Berry Hall - named after its builder in 1520 Thomas Berry. It is said the wall was built so high, so that prying pilgrims could not see in! The house was much altered in the 18th century and was the home of the Grandparents of Rupert Brooke, one of the great First World War poets."
